Silas knows Christmas is coming and he loves singing Christmas tunes now. We know this all too well since we spent about 6 hours in the car this weekend. Jingle Bells is a clear favorite, although there is a bit of translation required, ''oh my father used to ride in a one horse open sleigh.''
There is a poem called, ''When Santa got stuck in the chimney'' that his ''teachers from school know because they are smart'' but I have to look up and learn apparently. However, Orrin and I did manage to figure out all the verses to ''Grandma got run over by a Reindeer.'' I'm fairly certain his teachers do not know, or at least have never sung in school.

True but you don't have to rub it in...
The other morning as I am shuffling around in my slippers bleary eyed and mumbling, Silas is running in circles around the kitchen shouting, ''I have more energy than you Mom. And you have less energy than me!''

High tech. Low tech.
This morning Silas asked to "share" Orrin's ipod shuffle. So I turned it on and he popped the ear buds in, pressed play, clipped it to his pocket and started jamming out around the bedroom. Meanwhile, Emmet was delighted with an empty shampoo bottle he dug out of the trash bin. What a difference two years makes.
The hit toys in the house right now are the two empty cardboard boxes that had the dishes that belong in the house and the paper in which the dishes were packed.

Web Album
Catherine's visit was awesome by the way. She is party planner extraordinaire, super nanny, hilarious company, and put up with my insanity. Couldn't ask for more.
There's pictures in picasa of her visit and Emmet's party if you haven't checked them out already.
I can't believe she didn't share the story of Silas's accident at the top of Blarney castle which necessitated an emergency purchase of a pair of striped red and white pants. Silas was called Thing One the rest of the day. Of course, these are now his favorite pants.
The rest of Catherine's visit was more relaxing, we went to toddler group, made rolls, cranberry sauce, and sweet potatoes for Thanksgiving. Then went over to a friends for the rest of feast. Friday I dragged Catherine to Kindermusik class with us. We did a little shopping for some pottery, and went for a walk in the woods outside Lismore.
Saturday morning I attempted a "full Irish breakfast"- tea, eggs, bacon rashers, brown soda bread, black pudding, and tomatoes. I didn't make sausages or beans, but I wanted Catherine to try to black pudding and there is only so much protein you can pack on your plate.

Moving Day
Thursday the movers come to pack up all our stuff and ship it across the ocean. The boys are getting in the spirit of things.

So my apologies for the lack of posting but I'm trying to make piles and put post it notes on cabinets so the movers know what stays in house, what goes in the air shipment and what goes by sea. But my darling children keep dismantling piles (imagine jumping in a just raked pile of leaves) and rearranging, and sometimes eating, the post it notes.
