Emmet has become a very big help in the kitchen this year. He has given up his afternoon nap, but were usually hanging around the house in the afternoon while Reuben naps. I usually use part of this time to read or play a game with Emmet, something that is hard to do with Reuben around. I usually try to get dinner prepped too, and often Emmet will help me with measuring ingredients, or peeling, or chopping.
Today we're making Scotch broth, or hamburger soup, since IT WAS SNOWING! earlier today. Emmet was cutting potatoes while I was getting everything else in the pot.
I asked him if he thought he might want to be a cook when he grows up. "Oh, maybe," he replied.
"What do you think you'd like to do when you are a grown up?"
"Probably the ruler of the world. Like a king or something."

Yeah, Emmet! I always wanted to be ruler of the world. We could do a good job.

Perfect! I think Emmet would be a great ruler of the world - better than anyone trying to do it now. And with Aunt Carol as his adviser, he could do no wrong! But world rulers are allowed, even encouraged, to cook! It can be quite relaxing...as a hobby, of course
Sure he hasn't been hanging around with Rachel? That used to be her goal. Maybe she has achieved it in a smaller world.
Sadly, no, I have not achieved it even in my own house. Boo!
