April catch up

It's Spring Break. Uncle Nathan graciously came to town to save my life.
We're surviving though I am bigger and more uncomfortable and less mobile every hour.
I made a "strawberry chocolate" pie for April Fools day on Monday. Actually a shepherds pie with a little cocoa and molasses and barbecue sauce in the meat to make it look like chocolate, and mashed potatoes with beet puree on top for the strawberry whipped cream.
Tuesday I had a doctor appointment to check on the babies. One is still breech, so I'll continue to do inversions to see if she will turn around. I had a good heart to heart with the doctor though, so I feel like I can trust her and do all we can to avoid a c-section and doing what's best for the babies and me.
Wednesday was spend in Dowagiac with Orrin's family. The kids played outside, we played games, visited. Didn't do much of anything, which is exactly my speed lately. Emmet spent the night, which was a fun evening away for him and Reuben slept in the bunk beds with Silas, "I'm a big brudder, like Emmet's a big brudder, and Reuben's a big brudder!"
Thursday morning we met up with some friends at the Discovery Zone to play in the water and rock climb and build arches and knock them down over and over again. Then Orrin's family came over to roast hot dogs for lunch, and jump on the trampoline, and go to a frog party at the nature center. Orrin's sister Sonja brought lasagna for dinner, (and extras for my freezer).
Today Orrin organized a cook off for his group at work. He engraved an old metal cooking spoon, attached it to some old circuit boards, and spray painted the whole thing gold. Everyone took in a family favorite dish. He took some of my precious freezer stash of pirogis. Luckily Linda is going to replenish the stock for the babies arrival. I'm so stingy with the freezer meals- waiting until I'm really desperate to use them.
Nathan and I went to the hardware store to get all the wrong plumbing supplies for Orrin to hook up the bathtub. The interior is being re-enameled so it won't be ready for at least a week, but I am getting impatient for a good long soak in the tub.
Then we had a freezing picnic in the park near the library, huddled by the bronze sculpture in the sun for warmth. We stopped in at the other children's museum to make some crowns, go through a "hedge" maze, and type on a braille machine, among other things. Reuben came home for a nap, the older boys played Life with Nathan, and we all folded origami planes and animals, courtesy of Grandma Linda's Easter bunny.
Fired up the grill for hamburgers and made sweet potato fries for dinner. Can't believe the appetite of the boys sometimes.
The boys all went for a walk down on the beach after dinner, bringing home treasures of beach glass, rocks, and sticks. It's barely spring and we are all anxious for summer!
