The kids and I had dentist appointments this morning. Everyone, including Reuben, seemed to be on their best behavior. Emmet and Silas were both super patients, and had fun telling Orrin about everything at dinner tonight. "They took pictures of my teeth!"
"I got to ride all the way up in the chair!"
"The hygentisit painted on my teeth!"
Silas asked me why the dentist counted teeth, and I was explaining that he was counting but also feeling for soft spots where there might be a cavity. He remembered from somewhere. " You can't feel a cavity when it's just in the white part of the tooth, but when it gets to the pulp, the pink part, it's really bad."
Emmet felt is teeth with his finger and said, " I dont' have any soft spots in my teeth, I don't need to see the dentist." He was, typically, a little stand-off-ish but did really well, even though I wasn't in the room with him most of the time.
Reuben sat on my lap during my cleaning, sucking his thumb and getting air blown in his face from time to time.
No cavities for anyone either, which is usual. But I don't want to start taking it for granted.
Left-overs for dinner, though I've taken to calling snack dinner instead. The kids are more excited about it that way, and as Emmet described it, "Snack dinner is where everyone can eat a little of whatever they want. Regular dinner is where everyone has to eat the same thing." So, snack dinner of corned beef, potatoes, samosas, pork, rice, cottage cheese, strawberry gelatin, pineapple, spinach salad, roasted parsnips and carrots, and tortillas.
Finally got Reuben down to the beach after dinner. I realize it's only March but it's felt like June for the last week, but he's always napping when I take the older boys down. He wasn't walking last summer so it was his first time really moving on the sand. He didn't want to leave. Of course neither did Silas and Emmet.

Bridget,
I am loving getting to read about your life. Thanks!!
Aunt Carol
I think Ellis's favorite dinner is snack dinner (but that could be because popcorn was usually included in the snack dinner).
